Nina Stein studied Sport and Health in Prevention and Therapy (B.A.) at the German Sport University Cologne and Health Care Research (M.Sc.) at the University of Cologne.

During her bachelor’s degree, she worked as a student assistant at the Institute of Movement Therapy and Movement-oriented Prevention and Rehabilitation and in the coordination office of the Healthy Universities Network NRW. Alongside her master’s degree, she worked as a project assistant in health management at the University of Cologne.

In her master’s thesis, she investigated associations between objective quality indicators and subjective patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) from patients treated in NRW breast cancer centres, as well as associations of care quality with structural characteristics of the centers.

Since January 2026, Nina Stein has been a research associate at the Chair of Medical Sociology. She is currently working on the redevelopment of the questionnaire for the routine survey of breast cancer patients in the EMMA-NRW project (Evaluation and Survey of Patients with Mammary carcinoma in the NRW Breast Centers).
