
Dr. Mirjam Eiswirth
Profile
Mirjam Eiswirth joined the imvr in February 2026. Her research focuses on patient-provider interaction in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a trained sociolinguist she combines stakeholder interviews and interactional analyses.
Following her PhD in Linguistics and English Language at the University of Edinburgh, Mirjam worked on a research project on sociolinguistic lifespan change from March 2020 to June 2022. She then led an online editorial team in a medical publishing company and spent time working as a market researcher in industry. In parallel to these jobs, Mirjam remained actively involved in research, for example as the patient and public involvement co-investigator in a Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge-funded project led by Prof. Shareen Forbes, University of Edinburgh and Dr. Lisa White, University of Nottingham, on islet transplantation.
In September 2025, Mirjam joined the research institute of the diabetes academy Bad Mergentheim und continues to contribute to the dt-report, an international survey on diabetes technology for both healthcare professionals and people with diabetes.
